Spec-tacular Makeup!

Some makeup tips to coincide with the Specsavers Spectacle Wearer Of The Year Awards which I attended last week.

Beauty Eye Opener
It's easy to hide behind glasses, especially with the fabulous array of fashion forward frames that are available. A woman can feel that her eyes are already adorned so no need for shadow. Team them with bit of lippy and away you go!

Celebrity makeup artist and all round glamour guru Armand Beasley, (whose famous clients range from Goldie Hawn to Michelle Keegan) thinks that you're missing out.

Armand says: "With the huge array of frames available I think that you have more freedom to experiment with shadows as well as lipstick shades. So hear are some tips for all you specs wearers!"

1. Add silver or gold to the inner corner of your eyes to help brighten them. Sisley and MAC both have gorgeous shimmer shadows that will brighten without looking glittery.
2. If you're shortsighted then your prescription will make your eyes look smaller so to counteract this invest in a soft white liner to use along the waterline. NARs Larger Than Life liner in Santa Monica Blv (£19) and Avon SuperShock liner (£6) in silver are perfect .

3. If you are long sighted then your prescription will make your eyes look bigger, so go smokey! Bobbi Brown Longwearing Liner in Jet (£18) and Charlotte Tilbury Rock 'n' Kohl liner in Bedroom Black (£19) will work a treat to bring a bit of drama to the eyes.

4. Don't be lazy with your brows! A good eyebrow shape not only adds polish to your look but can also take years off you! This is a good tip for the men too...

5. Colour clash! Try and experiment with a bold frame colour like orange then clash it with a fuschia pink lip or be bang on trend with deep burgundy or plum lips.

6. Wearing specs, especially ones with a heavy frame can generate more oil production around the eyes so shadow will crease quicker. Combat this with NARs SmudgeProof eyeshadow primer (£19) prior to shadow application.

7. Help makeup stay all day by investing in a spritz or two of Urban Decay's All Nighter Long-Lasting Makeup Setting spray (£19.50) after your makeup application.

8. Feline flicks are still big news and with frames becoming bigger, there's a bigger spotlight for eye makeup do practise those flicks. Benefits They're Real Push Up Gel Liner (£18.50) is good for novices ( but make you use on the back of your hand first to avoid s splurge of product). It's slanted rubber tip can help you control and place the product. Urban Decay's 24/7 liquid liner in Perversion (£14) is good too and quick drying.

9. Do you get annoyed with the little dents that your frames leave on the bridge of your nose? Invest in a makeup primer to help promote longevity of your makeup whilst also using an oil free foundation down the t-zone. Use MAC Blot Powder (£20.50) to absorb the excess oil without caking you with makeup, whilst minimising the marks.

10. Bring out your eye colour by using contrasting shadows. Blue eyes try green; green try purple; brown try blue hues etc
