Makeup Artist Musthave Mag comes to Manchester!
The great and the good of the beauty world descended upon Manchester, on the 13th and 14th of October, for the annual Professional Beauty Show North.
It was a great opportunity for me to try and catch up with some of my industry mates, like Karen Betts ( Semi Permanent makeup guru), Nilam Patel ( owner of HD Brows and Eyebrow Queen), beauty expert Caroline Hirons, celebrity makeup artists Gary Cockerill, Collette Casey and Tally Bookbinder, as well as having a nosey at some of the new industry launches.
But the main reason that I was there, was because I was asked to host a seminar on Real Beauty on the Red Carpet, for industry magazine, Warpaint!
Yes, my fave industry mag is back with a great online new look magazine!
So I was thrilled when they asked me to be involved.
My seminar took place on the Sunday afternoon and it was great to see so many there. I was ably assisted by my glamorous friend, actress Catherine Tyldesley in transforming my volunteer, Suzanne Braithwaite, who is the Assistant Editor of Professional Beauty magazine !
It was the first time that I had met Suzanne, so with a little bit of audience participation, I created a Red Carpet look that was slightly 'out of the box' by allowing the audience to choose the eye shadow colours ( oranges and pinks). It was great to have an eclectic audience, from industry professionals like Tally Bookbinder to housewives wanting a career change to top fashion stylist Kelvin Barron to mobile artists! Thank you to all who came down...
On the Monday, I was judging the Warpaint makeup artist competition. My section was 'Real Beauty Hollywood Glamour'. It was a tough decision as there was a high standard there... But myself and fellow judges, Beauty By Blondie and Beauty Blogger Rowena, managed to come to a decision. The winner of this section joined the winners of Special FX, Fashion and Edit sections ,to go forward to compete at Clothes Show Live (NEC) in December for the title of Emerging Makeup Artist of the Year 2013!
