Dry January

Is your skin feeling dry, looking dull and in need of a boost?

This is the time of year when our skin is in recovery mode (along with our liver) after the hedonistic party season and in desperate need of some TLC!

Here are a few products that can help...

A good 'cleansing' routine is essential so that your moisturiser can penetrate, which is why I love Merumaya's Melting Cleansing Balm (£14.50). It spreads effortlessly over the skin emulsifying makeup and once you add a splash of warm water, it turns to a milk allowing easy removal with cotton pads or a Cleansing Cloth. Repeat to get the skin squeaky clean.

Clarisonic Mia (£99) is a handy gizmo to have. With its sonic frequency of more than 300 movements per second, in one minute it works in synergy with your cleanser to remove more makeup and dirt than you would using just your hands.

If you can't invest in one of those then definitely use a gentle exfoliator once a week. Gents, I'm talking to you too, you can use Green People Organic Homme 1 Scrub it, (£10.50). With ingredients like Bamboo, Clove and Shea Butter , it removes dead skin whilst soften facial hair so you can get a closer shave.

People think they have dry skin at this time of the year, but more often than not it's dehydrated, lacking water, rather than dry, lacking oil. There are many factors contributing to this other than the busy end of year workload, like central heating, weather conditions and comfort/party food and drink. We tend not to drink as much water in the winter months too which of course means that we are not replenishing what we lose on a day to day basis. So as well as investing in a great moisturiser we need to consume at least 2 litres of water a day. Try hot water with lemon in the morning an alternative to your tea or coffee.

Sisley Black Rose Face Mask (£93) is the ultimate face mask pamper that you can possibly give your skin. Rich in vitamins, trace elements and plant extracts, this pricey wonder product is worth every penny as it will smooth, plump and brighten the skin. With an instant effect , the Black Rose mask works instantly on the signs of ageing and fatigue leaves you looking glowing and revitalised.
