Cut above the rest!

Celebrating 5 years in Manchester, Trevor Sorbie Salon celebrate in style.

Many years ago, the godfather of hair, Trevor Sorbie and I were a regular feature on GMTV....performing magical makeovers under the watchful eye of the lovely national treasure that is Lorraine Kelly!

Fast forward to 2008, and I was thrilled to hear that Trevor was launching his first salon outside London....in my home city of Manchester. And what a launch it was! Fantastic to catch up with my old pal....

Those 5 years have flown by... And the Manchester salon has become a Mecca of hair creativity where celebs sit side by side with housewives and office workers to be pampered and preened without pretence. Everyone receives star treatment in Manchester's friendliest salon.

Trevor Sorbie Manchester's Creative Director, Vincent Allenby and I have developed a tight working relationship which sees our work range from magazine shoots to transforming a celeb for the Red Carpet.

Last nights 5 year birthday bash had Vincent and I transform actress Sinead Moynihan, from daytime darling to nighttime vixen.

Sinead looked elegant with her long bob and subtle makeup as she too, pampered some individuals under her guise of Eyebrow Angels. Yet, it was her 30minute hair and makeup transformation that showed how easy it is to take your look from ' worktime' to 'playtime'.

Here's how I created the look:

If time is an issue then freshen up your complexion using Givenchy Hydra Sparkling Radiance Booster, pop on a touch more base over the top if you need to. Add a little illuminating concealer under the eyes, like YSL Touché Éclat or Sisley Botanical Concealer.

Mac's Blot Powder is perfect to keep you shine free on the tzone.

I then pressed on eyeshadows from Shu Uemura Parallel Princess Palette to enhance the eyes. It's really important that you press on the shadow, so get a good saturation of colour. If you brush on your shadows they can scatter and fall onto the cheeks... I started with a Silver on the inner corner of the eyes and a touch on the moveable part of the lid. Then a dusky pink shade was blended into the crease of the eye with purple at the outer edge. Urban Decays 24/7 liquid liner in Perversion black created a feline flick whilst their pencil alternative was used inside the eyes to create definition. Sparkle was courtesy of Urban Decay Glitter liner, just near the tear ducts in silver ,whilst the green one went over the black liquid liner to create a decadent shimmer. I then used a coat of Lancôme Hynose Drama mascara to lift the lashes or you can use a set of fake lashes.

HD Brow set in Bombshell provided enhanced shape and definition to Sineads immaculate brows ,whilst a Guerlain lipstick in a deep plum with a MAC lipgloss over the top created a perfect pout. If you have small lips then use a concealer to create a base first and a white pencil around your lip line to create the illusion of fuller lips. Then lightly feather your lip pencil (in a similar shade to your lippie) around your lips to create the shape and provide a barrier to help prevent bleeding.

Finally, I used NARs Orgasm blusher on the 'apples' of the cheeks with Bobbi Brown bronzer under the cheekbones in Natural. If you have darker skin then try Bobbi Brown lip and cheek pots in Raspberry instead of NARs. To keep your makeup party perfect, add a quick spritz of Urban Decay Makeup Fixer spray.

If you're going to a special party this season or you just want to treat yourself then you can book me and Vincent for a special VIP Pamper Package at Trevor Sorbie salon. Call 01618392255.
